Awaiting the Zinc Spark

Awaiting the Zinc Spark Painting by Philadelphia Artist Andrew Conti

Awaiting the Zinc Spark, 24″ x 24″, Acrylic on Canvas, 2016

The moment of conception. The piercing of the egg. The release of energies. The chemical interactions of life. The spark of zinc. The spark of life – quite literally.

I’ve never been one for the supernatural. In all its forms. I like the stories, I like thinking of unnatural (as far as I know) possibilities in existence. But when it comes down to it, the natural world, in all its forms, never ceases to inspire awe, amazement, and the shivering sense that the colossal improbability of existence is a fantastic gift.

And thus, Zinc Sparks, another sign and symbol of just how amazing the universe is. How could one not be moved to paint?
