Life itself, not a living creature, but all living creatures as a mass, as a form, as an energy in the universe amazes me. And it’s not in the sense of loving it, though I may, it’s more in the sense of being in awe of something so powerful and difficult to understand.

Life just goes. Life doesn’t really experience boundaries or borders, it just keeps pushing forward. It spreads, it overwhelms, and it absorbs. Every shape, every space, and every moment. In that sense, I see life as quite cold and a kind of unforgiving force in existence. It has its own agenda and goals. And it’s unclear to me that humanity is anything more than a blip in the spreading of life forward and across the universe.

Often that is what I want the paint to do. To take on a form and just keep spreading, just keep going. Consume everything, absorb everything, and just keep going.
